Ted Cruz tweeted a crude limerick at Joe Biden and it backfired spectacularly

When Ted Cruz tweeted a rude limerick at the president, he probably thought he was going to have the last laugh but he couldn’t have been more wrong.

Writing on Twitter, the controversial senator tweeted an article about Joe Biden celebrating thanksgiving in Nantucket, and wrote: “There once was a man from Nantucket...”

While he didn’t continue with the poem, this opener is often used for a variety of crude limericks – just have a think about what rhymes Nantucket...

But safe to say Cruz did not at all have the last laugh at all. And responding to his joke, people made up their own limericks about Cruz, referencing his many controversies from going on holiday to Mexico during a weather crisis to appearing to fall asleep during one of Biden’s speeches.

Meanwhile, others didn’t exactly follow the limerick format, and some people just roasted Cruz generally, but still:

Cruz has a history of embarrassing moments so this backlash will likely not come as a huge shock to him. Most recently, he was roasted after getting into an absolute tizzy about fictional character Big Bird receiving a Covid vaccine, calling it “government propaganda.”

We’d like to think this latest awkward moment might make him think twice about pursuing a career in poetry but we’re not holding our breath.
