Winston Churchill's grandson calls ex-Ukip leader Nigel Farage an ‘absolute t**t’

Winston Churchill’s grandson has made his feelings for ex-Ukip leader Nigel Farage clear.

Conservative MP Sir Nicholas Soames has amassed a loyal fan base on social media for his brutally honest approach to crafting tweets. When eurosceptic Farage posted about beer, Soames was quick to put him in his place.

Farage accompanied a picture of Proper Job beer, brewed in Cornwall, writing: “That’s my kind of beer”. But Soames hit back with a hashtag reply, saying: "#theabsolutetwatnoonesinterestedgoaway".

This isn’t the first time Soames has targeted Farage. In March, he used the hashtags #twat and #megatripledoubletwat when commenting on previous tweets. Farage is yet to respond to the name-calling, but it may be a harsh blow for a man who is known to idolise Churchill and frequently quoted him in pro-Brexit speeches in the run up to the 2016 EU referendum.

Soames, the MP for Mid-Sussex, was vocal about his support to stay in the EU and said his grandfather would have voted remain if he were alive. He told the BBC:

The last thing on earth Churchill would have been would have been an isolationist – to want to stand apart from Europe right now at a difficult time

Following Soames’s lead, many beer fans also weighed in on Twitter.
