The Met Office has named the hurricanes for the coming year, and they're hilariously British

Weather forecasters have unveiled a new list of storm names selected from a public poll and the results include the likes of "Barney", "Desmond", "Nigel", "Steve" and "Wendy".

The Met Office and Ireland's Met Eireann called for submissions in the hope of raising awareness about the strength of storms affecting both islands.

One name was picked for every letter of the alphabet except Q, U, X, Y and Z.

These are the 21 names chosen for 2015-16:
