A cat which wears a permanently surprised or spooked expression has gone viral on Twitter and Instagram.

The black and white feline which has earned the perfect name of Curious Zelda and belongs to Matt Tagioff from South East London.

According to the Daily Mail, the 31-year-old adopted the cat three years ago after responding to an advert from a rescue shelter which said:

don't be put off by my spooked expression.

You might feel that "spooked expression" is a bit of an understatement when you take a look at a few of her Instagram snaps, which come accompanied with hilarious captions.

Zelda now has over 2,300 followers on Instagram and over 35,200 on Twitter.

Matt states that he was convinced to start the pages for his pet after talking to his friends and family who became obsessed with the cat's wide eyes.

He told the Mail:

When introducing Zelda to friends, family and colleagues, they laughed a lot thanks to her amazing facial expressions and unique behaviour, trying to guess what she was thinking of.

It's not just her eyes which are unusual.

Just look at how she sits on a sofa.

According to Matt it was love at first sight when he met Zelda at the rescue shelter.

When I met her at the rescue shelter her ad said 'don't be put off by my spooked expression' and I wasn't.

Her eyes widened as I approached her, but she was so affectionate despite her startled glances.

She was the first and only cat I met at the shelter that day.

We, just like the rest of the internet are happy that they met and are able to spread so much cheer.

Thank you Zelda and your big, big eyes.
