Arnold Schwarzenegger said ‘screw your freedom’ to people who don’t want to wear masks

Former California governor and actor and bodybuilder Arnold Schwarzenneger had these three words to say to American’s that insist Covid-19 protocols such as mask-wearing go against their rights: “Screw your freedom.”

In a video published to YouTube on Wednesday, The Terminator actor spoke with CNN’s senior global affairs analyst Bianna Golodryga and retired Army Lieutenant Colonel Alexander Vindman about how the virus has been lethal to people.

“The only way we prevent it is [to] get vaccinated, get masks, to do social distancing, washing your hands all the time, and not just to think about ‘well my freedom is being kind of disturbed here.’ No, screw your freedom,” Schwarzenegger said in the video.

The former California governor also went on to say that freedom also includes obligations and responsibilities to do the right thing for the betterment of society. “You cannot just say ‘I have the right to X, Y, and Z.’ When you affect other people, then it gets serious,” he continued.

Schwarzenegger also made it a point to try and convince Americans to work together to fight against the virus by getting vaccinated and wearing masks as the Delta variant has swept across the US.

In late July, the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention noted that the 7-day moving average of Delta variant cases reached over 60,000, whereas the previous month was 12,000 cases. The CDC also recommends indoor masking for students, staff, and others regardless of vaccination status.

“Let’s stop fighting because there is a virus, and it’s better to be vaccinated and wear a mask,” he added.

The clip of the discussion is also posted to Schwarzenegger’s official Twitter account, which was well received by many people in the comments.

“I agree. People refusing to wear masks in areas with high Covid numbers are Schmucks. Wear a mask! Get vaccinated!” someone wrote.

Arnie, the Terminator, and former Governor of California nails it in this interview,” another added.

Bonnie Fuller, the President and Editor-In-Chief of HollywoodLife, also gave her input in the comments and wrote: “Thank you@Schwarzenegger for saying it like it is- ‘if you don’t wear a mask, you’re a schmuck’! He points out that we all obey traffic lights even tho it impinges on our ‘freedom.’ But we do it to protect ourselves & others. Wear a mask & getting vaccinated!”

And there you have it, the Terminator has spoken.
