A swarm of mayflies descended on a bridge in Sabula, Iowa, on Saturday night, causing major traffic jams - and requiring a snowplough to remove them from the road.
Sabula Iowa Police department were called to assist one motorist as the bug hatchings were covering the surface of the road and piling high on the ground.
Footage of the swarm makes for prime nightmare fuel.
The Iowa Department of Transportation will keep lights on the bridge turned off over the next few weeks in order to keep the bugs off the bridge.
