Everything you need to know about iPad Air 2 (and iPad mini 3)

After mistakenly revealing what the new iPad range looked like yesterday, Apple did it officially today. Here's what you need to know about iPad Air 2:

It's thinner

At 6.1mm Apple believes its yearly update to its premier tablet is the thinnest ever made and 18 per cent thinner than the original iPad Air. CEO and dad joke expert Tim Cook asked the audience in Cupertino, California, if they could even see the one in his hands.

It has TouchID

It sure does.

It's harder, better, faster, stronger

It has a new chip - the A8X; a new 8-megapixel iSight camera and 1080 HD video; and comes with Apple Pay.

It comes in three colours

Silver, space grey and gold.

It costs this much...

Six different versions are available, the Wi-Fi models of 16GB, 64GB and 128GB are $499, $599 and $699 respectively, with 4G enabled versions costing $130 more each. These prices serve only as a guide for the UK market, however.

It's out soon

Pre-orders, in the US at least, start tomorrow, and it will ship a week after.

The iPad mini 3 was also announced, but Apple didn't go into too much detail other than that it is $100 cheaper than each iPad Air 2 model.
