Manchester's billboard war was reignited this morning after a betting company erected a 'Welcome to Vanchester' poster in honour of new United manager Louis van Gaal.
Appearing on social media this morning, some suggested the sign could have been a response to Manchester City's similar trick when Carlos Tevez switched allegiances to play for City in 2009.
That poster was seen to symbolise Manchester City's new found boisterousness at the top end of the Premier League and appeared to significantly rile their arch enemies.
In 2011, the Manchester United Supporters Trust taunted City with a 'Welcome to Carlos, Manchester' poster when the Argentine forward fell out with his new club's hierarchy.
At first it was unclear exactly who was responsible for the latest poster. The lack of coverage on United's official Twitter account suggested the club may not be officially behind it.
