The chart that shows why Claudio Ranieri deserves his new contract - and how every other club got it wrong

Well, it's obvious, he won the league - but the margin to which he performed above his paycheck is remarkable.

The below chart by Statista, which details the managers, or as they were at the start of the season, by their paycheck:

Ranieri reportedly pocketed a £1.7 million bonus for winning the league, and is in line for a new £3 million a year deal.

Which would put him roughly in the company of Sam Allardyce, Roberto Martinez and Slaven Bilic.

Ranieri said on Tuesday that he doesn't believe his side can replicate the title-winning feat next year, and instead hopes to use the achievement to solidify Leicester as a top tier club.

No [we won't win the league next season]. I think no but of course we want to continue to build.

When I came here the project was to build a foundation and slowly grow together and fight for Europe.

Whether he can hang onto his Premier League-winning stars to do so is another matter, as the transfer window beckons.
