Yes, yes the White House Correspondents' Association dinner was on Saturday night, but we only just got round to realising how brilliant Cecily Strong's headline skit was.
The Saturday Night Live cast member began her 20-minue routine by noting how it "feels right to have a woman follow President Obama".
Two jokes in particular really stood out.
Addressing the elected representatives in the room, she said:
Since I'm only a comedian, I'm not going to try to tell you politicians how to do politics or whatever, that's not my job. That would be like you guys telling me what to do with my body. I mean, can you even imagine? Crazy.
Later, Strong said:
Seriously, the Washington Hilton is great. And I bet that when the president walked in and saw those bellhops, he thought, 'finally, some decent security'.
No it's OK I'm just kidding, let's give it up for the Secret Service. I don't want to be too hard on those guys. You know, because they're the only law enforcement agency in the country that will get in trouble if a black man gets shot.
As the audience reacted, Strong followed the joke up by asking "are you saying 'boo' or 'true'?".
Surprisingly, Strong's routine actually had something of a frosty reception from the audience of politicos, reporters and celebrities. She noted: "Fox News is losing some viewers, and may they rest in peace."
