4th of July: Fire in fireworks shop leads to impromptu Independence Day display

Americans celebrate independence in many ways but perhaps nothing is more synonymous with 4th of July than fireworks displays.

The residents of South Carolina got an earlier display than they’d anticipated when a fire broke out in a fireworks store this independence day. The blaze engulfed Davey Jones Fireworks and the House of Fireworks in Fort Mill, South Carolina, and set off fireworks in every direction. It was the kind of spectacle that wouldn’t go amiss in Independence Day with Will Smith except with fireworks in place of aliens.

It was quite the spectacle as firefighters attempted to dodge the explosions while trying to put out the blaze.

Fortunately nobody has been reported injured by the fire and the subsequent explosions. Investigators do not suspect foul play although the cause of the fire is still unknown.
