Burns survivor only did half her makeup to show what real beauty looks like

This is 20-year-old Shalom Nchom, who's originally from Nigeria and lives in Maryland.

When she was just nine, Shalom was involved in an accident involving frying oil which left her with permanent scarring.

While she was growing up, she found makeup helped her feel more comfortable in her own skin, especially at school.

Now she's a bit older, Shalom is seriously good at what she does, making her name as a makeup artist and vlogger.

But she's also said that she doesn't need makeup or wigs to make her feel beautiful anymore.

Writing on Instagram, Shalom said she wanted to "challenge herself to face her fear".

And not only that - makeup is fun, she says, but she wants to inspire others to believe they are beautiful just the way they are.

You should love yourself either way, makeup or no makeup.

To prove her point, in one of her latest tutorial videos, Shalom made up half her face, and left the other half natural:

In the video she says:

This is my finished look showing the power of makeup... and I love both of the sides equally. I'm accepting of what happened to me and I can live with that.

I love myself for who I am. Makeup makes me happy but it's not the reason I'm happy. I'm happy because I love myself, and you definitely should too.

Flawless. Watch the full video below:
