Boris Johnson tweeted support for London Pride and the internet was having none of it

Boris Johnson, the front runner to be Britain’s next prime minister, has publicly signalled his support for LGBT+ rights during London’s Pride weekend.

While it’s good to see Johnson saying he supports LGBT+ rights now, some people have remembered when he wasn’t so warm and fuzzy towards LGBT+ people. Johnson once compared gay marriage to humans marrying dogs and once described gay men as “tank-topped bum boys”.

Sky News presenter Kay Burley was quick to remind him of this.

And so was London mayor Sadiq Khan, who fired back at Johnson during his speech over the weekend, saying:

You’ve got the next prime minister using homophobic language.

They weren’t the only ones to remind Johnson of his previous remarks.
