After John Bercow sensationally blocked Theresa May from bringing back the same Brexit deal for a third meaningful vote, all bets are off when it comes to Brexit.

And in honour of Britain's indecisiveness when it comes to leaving the EU, France's minister for EU affairs has decided to name her cat Brexit.

Nathalie Loiseau told Le Journal Dimanchethat she chose the name because of her cat's loud meow and fickle nature.

She said:

He wakes me up every morning miaowing to death because he wants to go out, and then when I open the door he stays in the middle, undecided, and then gives me evil looks when I put him out.

Loiseau made the comments days before EU leaders decide whether to extend the Brexit negotiating period after MPs voted in favour of pushing back the 29 March deadline.

The minister has taken a tough line in Brexit negotiations so far, shooting down UK proposals and warning of the risks of a no-deal Brexit.

But in October she even suggested that a no-deal Brexit would be better than Theresa May's Chequers plan.

People on Twitter found the French minister's "high-level trolling" hilarious.

Others came up with some more reasons as to why you might decide to call your cat Brexit

While some suggested their own Brexit-related pet names.

And someone even came up with a name inspired by French politics in return.

The Brexit process might feel as if it's dragging on endlessly, but at least we have cat jokes to see us through. Larry the Number 10 cat would approve.
