Brexit Party MEP says that remaining in the EU is better than Boris Johnson's withdrawal deal

Brexit Party MEP says that remaining in the EU is better than Boris Johnson's withdrawal deal

A Brexit Party MEP has said that the UK is better staying in the European Union, rather than leaving under Boris Johnson's deal.

Yes, we've reached peak Brexit.

Appearing on Sky News' Sophy Ridge on Saturday show, Ben Habib, the Brexit Party MEP for London came out with a quite frankly startling attack on the prime minister.

Habid explained to Ridge that he believes that Johnson should ''pivot away from his current withdrawal deal'' which he calls ''subjugation of the United Kingdom.''

The 54-year-old said:

What we need to do is to get the prime minister to pivot away from the withdrawal agreement which I think is subjugation of the UK.

I see the withdrawal agreement as much worse than remain, quite frankly.

Ridge then interjects and asks him to repeat what he just said. Did a Brexit Party member just say the remaining in the EU was better than leaving?

I do think it's better. It's much better because if you think about it under Boris Johnson's deal we're going to leave Northern Ireland bereft.

A slightly confused Ridge then asks:

Is this an official Brexit Party position that remaining in the European Union is better than Boris Johnson's deal?

Habib replies:

That may or may not be our position but that is certainly my view.

This completely perplexing moment has since gone viral on Brexit twitter and people can't quite believe what they are hearing.

Habib later added on Twitter that his logic was over concerns about 'leaving Northern Ireland behind.'

So much for your 'microwave-ready deal,' Mr Johnson.
