It’s fairly safe to say that Donald Trump isn’t the best of friends with the majority of the press right now.

He called BuzzFeed 'garbage', and labelled CNN 'fake news'; but one outlet that regularly is found in his cross hairs is the New York Times. Mr Trump has long been insistent that the newspaper is “failing.

And the paper has put him straight several times.

Just yesterday, he tweeted:

How much longer will the failing nytimes, with its big losses and massive unfunded liability (and non-existent sources), remain in business?

The NYT decided to do what it does best, swoop in and deliver the facts.

The publication told Trump that since his election, they had more paid subscribers than ever before to its website, and its profit, income and revenues are all growing nicely.

The apparent reason for Trump's renewed Twitter strike against the paper, seemed to be triggered by a report that aides to Vice President Pence have allegedly discussed forming a presidential campaign in 2020.

The paper also defended this report.
