The most powerful Holocaust Memorial Day messages

Today is Holocaust Memorial Day and marks 75 years since the liberation of Auschwitz, a number that is still within living memory for those who survived the Nazi concentration camps.

Holocaust survivors have returned to Auschwitz to lay wreaths to commemorate the 1.1 million people who died there during the Second World War, while there are a number events marking the occasion taking place across Europe. The primary message is that we must not forget the horrors of the past, especially as the survivors will not be with us for much longer.

As the final witnesses to the very worst atrocities of the last century reach the end of their days, it is our moral obligation to keep the memory of the Holocaust alive and ensure history is not repeated.
