Cinemas in South Africa have cancelled the screening of groundbreaking LGBT+ film, Inxeba (The Wound), following protest action, threats of “violence and damage to property” and earlier warnings from traditional chiefs, reports claim.
One cinema in Port Elizabeth, Walmer Park, reportedly suspended the movie after a group of about 50 protesters gathered outside and called for a boycott on Friday, the day the filmed opened in the country.

Hemingways Mall in East London announced the cinema there had also stopped showing the film.
Nu Metro in Canal Walk, Cape Town is another cinema that announced it will not be screening the film after it received "threats of violence and damage to property." The branch tweeted:
