Prince Andrew's ongoing controversial links to the convicted sex offender Jeffrey Epstein and accusations that he slept with a minor continue to escalate following his BBC interview.
During the interview with Emily Maitlis, Prince Andrew did his best to deflect the allegations against him, by using everything from Pizza Express to not sweating as reasons why he didn't have intercourse with Virginia Giuffre, who claims she was forced to have sex with him when she was a teenager and below the age of consent.
In another bizarre chapter to this story, the writer, socialite and all-round posh person, Lady Colin Campbell has appeared on Good Morning Britain to discuss the Prince and the allegations surrounding him where she produced a questionable take on what constitutes paedophilia.
Talking to Piers Morgan and Susanna Reid, 70-year-old Campbell suggested that Jeffrey Epstein was not a paedophilia because the women involved were actually underage sex workers.
You all seem to have forgotten that Jeffrey Epstein, the offence for which he was charged and for which he was imprisoned, was for soliciting prostitution from minors. That is not the same thing as paedophilia.
A stunned Morgan, obviously shocked by this statement, fired back at her, saying:
If you solicited a 14-year-old for prostitution, you’re a paedophile.
Lady Campbell batted away this claim by saying that ''it doesn't matter'' which only enraged Morgan further.
It does matter. You’re procuring an underage girl for sex! That’s what he was convicted of! I’m sorry, I’m sorry, with respect, that is nonsense
Campbell then tried to claim that there was a difference between a 'minor' and a 'child'.
Was he? 14? Well, I’m not justifying Jeffrey Epstein. Paedophilia, I suspect there’s a difference between a minor and a child.
This almost unbelievable exchange between two adults is almost too strange to even fully analyse and Twitter was equally shook by Campbell's comments.
