The DNA of British politics, in one chart

A survey has revealed which groups in society people associate with Labour and the Conservatives.

The poll of 1,680 British adults by YouGov showed that Labour was seen by supporters of all parties, other than the Conservatives, as the most understanding of ordinary, working people.

Meanwhile, Labour were associated by 81 per cent with the trade unions, and by 69 per cent with benefit claimants.

The survey also showed that 88 per cent associate the Conservative party with 'Rich people' and 'Businessmen and the City', the full results of which have been neatly represented by our friends at Statista:
