It has been a tough year for retail and hospitality workers, no less those that constantly have to remind customers of the rules that ensure mutual safety.

In this case it was enough to make one US employee for the diner chain Denny’s quit on the spot.

The short video features two male customers, who insist to their waitress that they can order inside without masks based on ‘religious exemption’. They reportedly even cited a law introduced during the civil rights movement in the 1960’s.

The clearly frustrated employee drops her menus on an adjacent table and snaps.

“Roger, I’m not working for this s**t anymore!” she says. “These guys won’t put their masks on. I’m sick of feeling like this!”

Her boss steps out to defend her and the restaurant’s ‘no mask no service’ policy. The customers leave, but not without the pair warning them to ‘not believe everything the media tells you’ as they depart.

The National Law Review has argued the law they cited to be useless in the case of mask wearing.

Twitter has come out in sympathy for the woman subjected to this whilst trying to make a living in the middle of a pandemic.
