From line faults to billing errors, many of us have been left fuming by a phone or broadband provider at some point.

A report released by the communications regulator Ofcom lists the providers which receive the most complaints:

Complaints about landline services (per 1,000 customers):

1. EE (0.33)

2. Plusnet (0.25)

3. TalkTalk (0.24)

4. Post Office (0.23)

5. BT (0.15)

6. Sky (0.07)

7. Virgin Media (0.06)

Industry average: 0.14

Complaints about fixed broadband providers (per 1,000 customers):

1. EE (0.42)

2. BT (0.28)

3. TalkTalk (0.23)

4. Plusnet (0.22)

5. = Sky (0.06)

5. = Virgin Media (0.06)

Industry average: 0.16
