The Pope's US visit has been celebrated with Twitter emojis because of course it has

Pope Francis has started his visit to the US, and to celebrate, Twitter has released a new series of emojis.

Users can tweet using the four new hashtags, which feature small images of the US flag, the Capitol, the Statue of Liberty, and the Liberty Bell.

Twitter has been rolling out more emojis recently, including the Rugby World Cub and the Premier League club emojis, the purspose of which are to unify discussion along a single hashtag.

Pope Francis arrives after visiting Cuba and is expected to visit the White House on Wednesday.

He will parade through Washington in the Popemobile on Wednesday, after which he will participate in a canonisation at the Basilica of the National Shrine of the Immaculate Conception.

On Thursday he will also engage in the first-ever joint address to Congress by a pontiff before a religious service at the ground zero site.

His trip will end on Sunday in Philadelphia.
