The X-Men mansion now exists in the real world, according to Google Maps

X-Mansion, the training centre for Marvel Comics' X-Men characters, has turned up on Google Maps in the town of North Salem, New York state.

Sadly for any budding mutant teenagers hoping to join up with Professor Charles Xavier, Wolverine and chums, the school, also known as the Xavier Institute for Higher Learning, has been added to Google by a prankster using the search engine's Map Maker tool.

Professor Xavier's mansion is indeed located in the town of North Salem (in the fictional comic book series), but at another address across town address - 1407 Graymalkin Lane. That address has also been annotated as "Xavier's School for Gifted Youngsters" on Google Maps.

Unfortunately Xavier College's alma mater of "mutatis mutandis" doesn't quite hold true in this instance.

While we encourage people to add places to Google Maps using our Map Maker tool, they need to be part of our world, and not Cyclops and Storm's.

The school's motto "mutatis mutandis" means "to change only those things which need to be changed".
