This old homepage reminds us how bad the internet used to look

It is quite astonishing to think how far the internet has evolved in its short existence.

In honour of the page's 20th birthday, Microsoft has recreated the homepage it displayed all the way back in 1994.

Despite the page having very basic graphics and minimal text, the site's original administrator, Mark Ingalls, explained it would still take around three to five seconds to load up on a dial-up connection.
