The result of Drag Race was so unpopular that even the Mayor of London had to make a statement

The long-waited finale of RuPaul’s Drag Race UK was aired last night - but the result was so controversial that even politicians had to get involved.

The final episode of the British revamp of the hit reality TV talent show dropped on BBC Three, and fans gobbled up the looks, tears and sequins.

But not everyone was content with the results, prompting some high profile fans to address it.

Among those who got involved was Mayor of London Sadiq Khan, who took to Twitter after the episode to offer his condolences to the runner-up.

After Glasgow darling Lawerence Chaney was crowned the winner, social media was awash with people exclaiming their shock that the spectre was not in the hands of Bimini Bon Boulash.

One of the people echoing their condolences was none other than Mr Khan.

He tweeted: “Here in London you can be who you want to be, and love who you want to love. Condragulations to London’s finest @biminibabes for a great @dragraceukbbc - you will always be our winner.”

Bon Boulash had proudly drawn of their east London roots during the show, dressing up as Dalston DJ Princess Julia in the queer icon runway.

They also pushed the boundaries of comedy, couture and choreography, and definitely showcased their Charisma, Uniqueness, Nerve and Talent, collecting a record four RuPeter badges and penning one of the best verses in UK Hun?.

But ultimately, as Bon Boulash is such a talent, they’ll be lighting up our lives on a regular basis. All the contestants proved themselves to be complete and utter joys in such rubbish times.
