A documentary that falsely claims to show “proof” that Donald Trump won the 2020 presidential election has been named as one of the worst films of the past year.
Absolute Proof, a documentary from My Pillow CEO Mike Lindell, picked up two nominations last week at the Golden Raspberry Awards (also known as the Razzies) - the satirical version of the Oscars which honours the worst movies in the film industry.
Lindell, who has become one of Trump’s most devout supporters, is in the running for Worst Actor, while the film is in contention for Worst Picture, battling against nominees such as Robert Downey Jr’s Dolittle reboot and Sia’s controversial musical drama Music.
Over the last few months, the businessman has refused to accept Joe Biden’s election victory and used pro-Trump media outlets, such as One America News (OAN) and Newsmax, to spread conspiracy theories and misinformation about the vote.
Absolute Proof is not so much a film as it is an extended rambling monologue interspersed with random moments of stock footage.
The result is a barely coherent mess that collects together many of the false claims about the election that have already been widely-debunked.
For a taste of what that looks like in practice, you can see the clip below:

And here’s whatVice had to say about the film when it first aired in February:
“In sum, the movie feels like a bunch of old, thoroughly-debunked claims repackaged as a special report on the worst public access TV channel you’ve ever watched.”
Lindell’s claims of election fraud were so wildly unsubstantiated that OAN had to include a disclaimer at the start of its broadcast essentially arguing that it had nothing to do with the documentary:

Much like his attempts to overturn the election, the My Pillow Guy’s film career is looking like a resounding failure.
Although if Lindell wins the Worst Actor award next month, he will join a surprisingly illustrious list of stars, including Tom Cruise, Eddie Murphy, Bruce Willis, Prince and 4x winner Sylvester Stallone...
