It's now not-far-off customary to slip some sensational put-down into your Oscars chat.
And Emma Stone isn't one to mess up such a rich tradition - but she has divided opinions in the process.
While presenting the Best Director award, Stone called out the fact that four male filmmakers were nominated alongside just one woman. Prior to reading out the nominees, she said:
These four men and Greta Gerwig created their own masterpieces this year.
Some people loved that the actor spoke her mind.
But others pointed out that her comments overlooked the struggle of some nominees.

Guillermo del Toro, who won the award for The Shape of Water, is a Mexican immigrant, while Jordan Peele is the first black writer to win Best Original Screenplay for Get Out.
