Hello Kitty is in space

Today in things that are actually happening: Hello Kitty is in space. And she wants your messages.

Last seen on i100 with a very dark definition of the word necklace, the Japanese toy has now been launched into orbit to celebrate 40 years of the Hello Kitty character.

Manufacturer Sanrio announced this week they had put a 1.6inch tall Hello Kitty figure into space on board an ultra-small satellite called Hodoyoshi-3.

You can submit a message in English or Japanese that could be displayed above Hello Kitty and her window on the world via this website via this website. Manufacturers will choose 10 messages and the deadline is 25 August.
