Keeping the president safe is no cheap job.

After four years of President Donald Trump, the bill to taxpayers might be a little more expensive than usual.

The Washington Post has estimated that Trump has accrued a bill of $10 million already, for three trips to his Mar-a-Lago estate in Florida.

He played golf at the weekends, a common complaint he made of President Barack Obama.

Tom Fitton, president of Judicial Watch, which tracked Obama’s family holiday costs, told The Post that Trump could opt to use the presidential retreat Camp David, which is just a short helicopter ride from the White House, or even his golf course in Northern Virginia.

And New York is forking out half a million dollars a day to guard the Trump Tower, according to police officials’ estimates.

Barely a month into Trump’s presidency, the Post writes that:

The unusually elaborate lifestyle of America’s new first family is straining the Secret Service and security officials, stirring financial and logistical concerns in several local communities, and costing far beyond what has been typical for past presidents

One of the reasons for the high price tag, according to ThePost, is Trump’s inclination to go about his business surrounded by crowds of people.

Obama’s travel expenses totalled nearly $97 million over eight years, but the Post states that, based on Trump’s expenses so far, it’s looking like he’ll cost hundreds of millions of dollars more.
