A picture of a single (but super small) slice of pizza has broken the internet.
It all started when Twitter user @BuxtonSNZ posted a photo of a very, very, very thin slice of pizza.
It references what many seem to remember fondly – the party a school teacher promised to throw at the end of the year and the disappointment of such a small slice of pizza.
People also reminisced about the small disposable cup of soda or watered-down juice that would usually accompany it, as well as maybe a small cookie or cupcake.
But why was the slice of pizza so small?
Well the answer is likely to be the sad reality of a lack of school funds.
@Blachaz3 hypothesised it was because cash-strapped teachers probably had no budget for the parties and perhaps had to pay for it out of their own pockets:
And many, many people agreed.
At the time of writing, the tweet has over 400,000 likes and more than 50,000 retweets – not to mention heartfelt comments to people’s own teachers while growing up.
As well as testimonies from teachers confirming the sad reality:
Who else thinks teachers deserve a pay rise (and pupils deserve more pizza?)
