They might not always be normal and they are certainly not always rational but we all have our superstitions and strange habits.
As author and journalist Chas Newkey-Burden has found, that applies to famous people too. Here are 10 habits adapted from Newkey-Burden's new book Get Lucky: Rituals, Habits and Superstitions of the Rich and Famous.
1. Marilyn Monroe
Shaved the heel of one shoe in each pair to give her that famous walk.
2. Steve Jobs
Had a collection of 100 of the same sweater designed by Issey Miyake. He wore one every day
3. Winston Churchill
Liked to conduct meetings naked.
4. Barack Obama
Always plays basketball on election day.
5. Leonardo da Vinci
Would take a 20-minute nap every four hours rather than sleep a full night.
6. Tiger Woods
Always tries to wear a red shirt during competitions.
7. Benjamin Franklin
Asked himself every evening "What good have I done today?".
8. Charles Dickens
Believed it was important to sleep north and as such used to carry a compass wherever he went.
9. Maya Angelou
Used to hire a hotel room to write in which she kept as sparse as possible.
10. Heidi Klum
Carries a bag containing her baby teeth.
