Remembering Gal Gadot’s bizarre ‘Imagine’ video, one year on

It’s been one long, lonely year since the Covid-19 pandemic was declared, and while the internet is brimming with anniversary posts, it feels right that we look back at the cringeworthy moments.

There is no better example of coronavirus cringe than the Imagine video, Gal Gadot’s most viral production, stuffed with celebrity cameos and awful singing to one of the world’s most beloved but trite pop songs from the one and only John Lennon.

With appearances from roped in A-listers such as Mark Ruffalo, Zoe Kravitz, Cara Delevingne, Will Ferrell, Sia and Leslie Odom Jr, to name just a few.

Justice League star Gadot said she wanted to lift everyone’s spirits. But, as it turned out, Twitter wasn’t very interested in seeing a load of wealthy people singing out of tune.

Some people wanted them to open their purse and actually help the millions of people suffering because of the economic consequences of the virus.

At the time of writing, 2.6 million people have unfortunately lost their lives after being infected. Additionally, there has been a mass economic fall out all over the world, unemployment is rising and social distancing is still very much a thing.

Parodies ensued, but of course.

A personal highlight was featured celebrities distancing themselves from the video that went down like a lead balloon. Jamie Dornan was one of those who regretted crooning for corona. He shoved the blame on Kirsten Wiig.
