A former Nintendo sales lead said he expects the price of the Switch 2 console to go up in the not too distant future.
A number of gaming consoles and components have all gone up in price of late due to volatile market conditions, including a shortage of key components such as memory, RAM and GPU.
This is being caused by huge tech companies building massive AI data centres which3 is eating up the supply of some of the resources essential for gaming consoles and PCs, making them more expensive to manufacture with some of those costs being passed on to consumers.
Inflation, higher oil prices and tariffs are key reasons too.
PlayStation recently announced a price hike across its suite of hardware, including the base PS5 models, PS5 Pro and PS Portal, citing "continued pressures in the global economic landscape" as the main reason.
And speaking on the Kit & Krysta Podcast, a former Nintendo sales lead referred to as Sean predicts Nintendo will soon likely follow suit with the Switch 2.

Sean said: "Unfortunately I think eventually, the hardware price is going to have to go up.
"I think that there are things that they can and seem to be doing to try and mitigate that - but I also look at this move on software as, if I'm reading it correctly, a way to make a hardware price increase a little bit more palatable.
"There's all of these world events that have been, for a while, putting pressure on pricing and putting pressure on margins and they don't seem to be going away.
"So even if they are able to make concessions in some areas, hardware prices are going to go up I think, eventually.
"If the proposition is 'you're going to spend a little bit more on hardware but if you buy your games digitally, you can save money there', that's one way to look at it."
Switch 2 consoles on their own cost £395 in the UK and $449 in the US. To be clear, Nintendo has not risen the price of the Switch 2 above this launch price at the time of writing.
