Bernie Sanders is running for president again and the internet reacted accordingly

Bernie Sanders has announced his intention to run again for president in 2020 in a second attempt to win the Democratic Party’s nomination.

The 77-year-old politician lost to Hillary Clinton following the 2016 election primaries, but it hasn’t stopped him from trying again.

Announcing a new campaign in an email to supporters, he said:

Our campaign is not only about defeating Donald Trump. Our campaign is about transforming our country and creating a government based on the principles of economic, social, racial and environmental justice.

He won more than 13 million votes and dozens of primaries and caucuses in 2016, when he had been seen as a outside contender, and has been among the leaders in opinion polls about prospective 2020 candidates.

The reaction from the internet to see him run for president in the US has been, well pretty on brand.

When he announced his intention to run, he said:

We have got to look at candidates, you know, not by the color of their skin, not by their sexual orientation or their gender and not by their age.

...which didn't exactly go down well.

Others are happy about his decision to run again - and pointed to his activist past.
