Newly elected Labour party leader Jeremy Corbyn's first official engagement was the Battle of Britain memorial service at St. Paul's Cathedral on Tuesday.

The Islington North MP released a statement before the service praising the heroism of the Royal Air Force during WWII.

But since the vocal pacifist and republican remained tight lipped during the national anthem, all hell broke lose on social media - and the next day, on the front pages of almost all the national newspapers:

To make matters worse, the leader of the opposition was wearing a slightly mismatched jacket and trousers and left his top button undone.
