Manatees seen huddling together for warmth as temperatures plummet in Florida

Florida is known for many things, but its icy winters certainly aren’t one of them.

In a far cry from the tropical hurricanes, Miami sunshine and orange orchards that we’re used to hearing about, temperatures have dropped sharply. Every winter, the “sunshine state” gets very cold. So chilly, in fact, that iguanas often fall from their perches onto the ground.

Now the gentle giants of the ocean – manatees – have devised their own coping method.

Hundreds of the adorable mammals were seen swimming in close proximity to each other, with many even huddling to keep warm.

Yes, manatees huddling. Huddling to keep warm. For warmth. Together.

The footage was posted to Facebook and, given how cute the concept of friendly animals coming together for a collective goal is, people were obsessed with it.
