Donald Trump’s Wednesday rally in Arizona seemed to be quite the affair.

A host of guest speakers turned up, including a surprise appearance from Nigel Farage, who said many bizarre things in praise of his host.

But Farage wasn’t the only person making controversial statements.

Kevin McCarthy, the Republican House Minority Leader, also took to the stage to big up the president.

And while there, he made some unpleasant jokes about House Speaker Nancy Pelosi.

Talking about a potential Trump re-election, McCarthy told the audience:

The reason I want you to come is I want you to watch Nancy Pelosi hand me that gavel.

And I promise you this: I won’t bang her with it but I’ll bang the end to the socialism and yes to America.

It’s all up to you.

It didn’t quite make sense but the crowd seemed to like it.

However, others listening did not.

They said McCarthy’s promise to “not bang” Pelosi with the gavel sounded like some sort of veiled threat.

Given she’s an 80 year-old woman, it struck some as a little off.

People said it was "sexism" and "bullying".

It was referred to as a ‘threat’.

People thought it was a very unsavoury piece of imagery.

McCarthy was deemed a ‘two-bit thug’.

Another proud showing for the Trump campaign...
