More of the public back RAF strikes against Isis in Syria than in July, a survey has revealed.
In the recent survey of 2,064 British adults by YouGov, three percentage points more said they approved of RAF involvement than in the previous survey, amounting to 60 per cent of the population.
Twenty per cent oppose air strikes, while 19 per cent say they don't know where they stand.
Russia began air strikes in Syria on Wednesday, which the UK have asked Russia to cease, as part of a US-led coalition against Isis.
In a joint statement on Friday, coalition members said Russian strikes are hitting the Syrian opposition and civilians and will “only fuel more extremism”.
Russia says it is targeting Isis in strikes, while a senior Russian official has said the strikes could last for between three and four months.
