Watch the moment a baby born deaf hears for the first time

This touching video shows the moment nine-week-old Elijah, who was born deaf in one ear and with limited hearing in the other, heard for the first time.

Elijah's deafness was diagnosed shortly after birth and he was fitted with hearing aids at the Children’s Hospitals and Clinics of Minnesota, USA.

His mother Ahavah Cook uploaded the short film on YouTube, explaining in an accompanying blog post that when she first realised her son could hear her voice she "was trying really hard not to cry".

I had a lot of emotions. I was trying hard to keep it together and just talk to him.
