A love-struck teenager has asked actress Emma Stone to be his prom date in a hilarious La La Land parody video.

Budding filmmaker Jacob Staudenmaier rewrote the lyrics of the film’s opening song "Another Day of Sun" to invite the Oscar-winning star to his prom at Arcadia High School in Phoenix, Arizona.

The 17-year-old Ryan Gosling lookalike directed and choreographed the video himself, roping in his classmates as extras.

Jason recreated the La La Land dance number set on a traffic-filled Los Angeles highway in his school car park.

“I need a date to prom,“ he sings from the front of a four-by-four.

Jacob Staudenmaier is my name... Emma Stone if you came, I think I'd lose it, go insane.

The teenager posted the video online on Tuesday, and it has since been viewed more than 98,000 times.

"It started with the kind of crazy idea of saying, ‘Yeah, maybe I’ll go with Emma Stone to the prom,’” he told USA Today. “I decided if I was going to do this, I really needed to do it big.”

Emma Stone has yet to respond to the invitation, but we’re keeping our fingers crossed for Jason.
