Guests at Trump’s Halloween mock AOC’s ‘Tax the Rich’ Met Gala dress

The former president has had a busy weekend, it seems.

Donald Trump was spotted at the Major League Baseball (MLB) World Series in Atlanta on Saturday alongside his wife Melania, before heading over to a Halloween bash at his Mar-a-Lago Club in Florida.

Golfer Dustin Johnson and fiancee Paulina Gretzky were two of the many in attendance. The model shared a photo to Instagram captioned, “Mr. President”, dressed as a Baywatch lifeguard alongside her husband, friends and the ex-president.

While Trump wasn’t in costume, there were some questionable choices for the Halloween festivities.

Two guests rocked up in what appears to be a mockery of Alexandria Ocasio-Cortez’s (AOC) Met Gala ensemble. AOC famously donned a white dress to the fundraising gala earlier this year. The back of her dress was sprawled with “tax the rich” in red writing.

One woman in attendance duped the dress but replaced the word “tax” with “marry.” While the other woman’s dress controversially read, “be the rich.”

“The medium is the message,” Ocasio-Cortez wrote on Instagram in defence of her Met Gala outfit.

“NYC elected officials are regularly invited to and attend the Met due to our responsibilities in overseeing our city’s cultural institutions that serve the public. I was one of several in attendance. Dress is borrowed.”

“The time is now for childcare, healthcare and climate action for all,” she wrote. “Tax the Rich.”

Inevitably, Trump’s weekend appearances did not go without controversy. The 75-year-old was spotted in a bizarre clip doing the “Tomahawk Chop” with fans – which has been slammed as offensive towards Native American culture.

Next up, we have Melania’s priceless facial expression while standing next to her controversial husband.

The clip shows the former first lady smiling before her facade appears to drop into someone undoubtedly disgusted. While it’s unclear what riled her up, Twitter was quick to make a few guesses.

“It’s like it takes every ounce of her strength and concentration to keep smiling around him, and every once in a while, she just has to rest, if even for just a second or two,” one joked.
