Trump Jr mocks Joe Biden's pledge to cure cancer moments before his father says exactly the same thing

Donald Trump's campaign for the 2020 presidential election officially kicked-off in Orlando, Florida, on Tuesday evening and it was a lively affair, to say the least.

The president opened up his speech with a re-run of the 2016 election by attacking Hillary Clinton over those pesky emails and things only got stranger from there.

In a bold statement, Trump claimed that if he is elected from a second term he and his administration will work tirelessly to wipe out many diseases including cancer and AIDS.

On top of this, he also says that he will 'lay the foundation' for taking American's to the 'surface of Mars' (which is apparently part of the Moon).

We will push onward with new medical frontiers.

We will come up with the cures to many, many problems, to many, many diseases, including cancer and others and we’re getting closer all the time.

We will eradicate AIDS in America once and for all and we’re very close.

We will lay the foundation for landing American astronauts on the surface of Mars.

That's all well and good and if he can do all of those things then he might silence a few of his critics, but the problem here is that one of these isn't even an original policy.

Just last week, Joe Biden said virtually the same thing about curing cancer during a campaign rally in Iowa.

I’ve worked so hard in my career that, I promise you, if I’m elected president, you’re going to see the single most important thing that changes America: We’re going to cure cancer.

Biden's equally bold statement was ridiculed at the time but Trump's same policy looked just a ridiculous after Donald Trump Jr, who spoke before the president at the rally, mocked Biden for this very thing.

Joe Biden comes out. 'Well, if you elect me president, I'm going to cure cancer.'

Wow. Why the hell didn't you do that over the last 50 years, Joe?

Trump Jr's comments are even more distasteful given that Biden's son, Beau, died after a long battle with brain cancer in May, 2015.

The general discourse around the subject of cancer has been criticised on social media.
