Women in Saudi Arabia can now drive, but only in a new video game

Women in Saudi Arabia currently face fines or imprisonment for driving - but now a new mobile video game developed by a company owned by a member of the country's royal family has put females behind the wheel.

In Saudi Girls Revolution women will race through a dystopian future featuring mutants and zombie soldiers while on souped-up motorcycles. The game is developed by NA3M, a company run by Saudi Arabian prince Fahad bin Faisal al-Saud, whose grandfather is the king's brother.

In a YouTube official teaser trailer a woman is seen on a hilltop standing next to a motorbike, with her cape flying in the wind as the city beneath her burns.

“If we can tell people stories about women driving, maybe it will actually happen,” the prince told the Times (£).

Saudi Girls Revolution will be out at the end of 2015.
