After Rickman, Bowie and Lemmy, people are now giving cancer the finger

A tweet which has been interpreted as a message to cancer has gone viral in the wake of the deaths of Alan Rickman, David Bowie and Lemmy.

Music website Gigwise posted an image of the three men all sticking up their middle finger. The text read: “Dear Cancer… #AlanRickman #Bowie #Lemmy.”

It comes after the news broke that Rickman had died of cancer at the age of 69 on Thursday.

On Sunday, it was announced that Bowie lost his life to cancer at the age of 69. And on 28 December, Lemmy passed away from the disease at 70. The frontman for Motorhead found out that he had cancer just two days before.

Gigwise’s post has been re-tweeted more than 12,000 times and liked by more than 8,000 people. One social media user said: “[It’s] ridiculous find a cure.”

Others paid tribute to Rickman, Bowie and Lemmy, including one person who said: “Damn three great men lost.”

Some people encouraged others to give money to cancer charities to find a cure for the disease.

Paul Foxcroft said: “Lemmy, Bowie, Rickman. If anyone tells you these things come in threes, beat them up, take their money and donate it to a cancer charity.”
