Politicians, celebrities and royalty have eating habits that range from normal to Nicolas Cage.
1. Putin has a taster
The former KGB agent turned political leader is still wary that poison will be put in his food, and has food tasters to make sure everything he eats is safe. Giles Bragard, founder of a group of chefs who cook for the world’s most powerful people, said Putin is the only world leader who still has a food taster. "Tasters still exist, but only in the Kremlin, where a doctor checks every dish with the chef," Bragard said.
2. Nicolas Cage only eats animals that have 'dignified' sex.
Actor Nicolas Cage only eats animals that have "dignified" sex, according to Business Insider. "I actually choose the way I eat according to the way animals have sex," Cage said. "I think fish are very dignified with sex. So are birds. But pigs, not so much. So I don’t eat pig meat or things like that. I eat fish and fowl."
3. Barack Obama participates in a great American tradition – homebrewing.
In 2011, Obama reportedly bought a home beer making kit and asked the White House chefs to help him tweak the recipes. They came out with three beers: the White House Honey Ale, the Honey Porter, and the Honey Blonde, all of which use honey from Michelle Obama's beehive at the White House.
4. Tony Blair and David Cameron disagree on more than just policies.
When Blair was Prime Minister, he stuck to an Atkins-like diet and avoided carbohydrate-heavy foods. Cameron, meanwhile, has his own bread maker, which he uses regularly. “You can set the timer overnight so when you wake up there’s this wonderful smell wafting through your kitchen,” he said.
5. The Royals know a good egg when they see one.
Little known nugget: many members of the Royal family love eggs. Mervyn Wycherley, Charles’s private chef during his first marriage told the Observer that Charles would want his eggs to be boiled for exactly four minutes. "His detectives radioed his ETA ahead. I always kept three pans boiling – just to be safe." The Queen prefers brown eggs to white ones, and Queen Victoria used to eat hers with a golden spoon.
6. Ed Miliband has trouble eating bacon sandwiches.
The leader of the Opposition was caught looking foolish on the campaign trail for the European elections when he was photographed eating a bacon sandwich.
7. Mark Zuckerberg isn't afraid to get his hands dirty.
The founder of Facebook took on an eccentric diet in 2011 where he decided the only meat that he would eat would be from animals he’d killed himself.
