An airline passenger found out what happens when the person in front of you decides to recline their seat while you’re using your laptop.
And it wasn’t pretty.
Pat Cassidy posted a photograph on his Twitter showing his smashed MacBook laptop. The screen was shattered, he claims, after the passenger in front of him reclined their seat.
The disgruntled Delta passenger’s story has went viral when he tweeted the airline to complain.
@Delta small note for the suggestion box, maybe have a little warning sign or someway to prevent my laptop from bei… https://t.co/SiluPiWVFz— Pat “Ricky” Cassidy (@Pat “Ricky” Cassidy) 1582753738
@delta Also, this one is more of a critique than a suggestion. I really appreciate that your flight attendant came… https://t.co/R0Novww6Ch— Pat “Ricky” Cassidy (@Pat “Ricky” Cassidy) 1582754006
In the comments, Twitter users wondered if Cassidy brought the broken laptop on board and then photographed it later in order to trick the airline into paying for a new MacBook Pro. But another user, Jud MacKrill, posted a photo from last October of his own laptop which has been broken in the same way.

Luckily Cassidy’s laptop was repaired by Apple, but for the rest of us, it’s an important cautionary tale of the horror stories that can occur at 30,000 feet.
