Mariah Carey says she needed ‘six grown men’ to carry the train of her Christmas special dress

The undisputed queen of ChristmasMariah Carey, incase we have to remind you – has arrived in time for the festivities. And in true Mariah style, she has gone all out.

Speaking on Lorraine about her hotly-anticipated Christmas special, the attention turned to her stunning gold-beaded Dolce and Gabbana dress, complete with a show-stopping train.

She told the host the dress weighed a whopping “60 or 70lbs” before revealing that it took “six grown men” to help her off stage.

“You want to laugh?” she said. “The dress itself took, it required – you’ll see in the special if you watch it – it took six grown men to carry the train of that dress to get me down the stairs.”

“You’ve always got six men around you, helping you,” Lorraine joked, “And why not, you’re Mariah Carey!”

Carey laughed: “Thereabouts! Sometimes there’s five, sometimes there’s six, it depends on the amount of beading!”

Judging by the singer’s festive-themed backdrop, we can imagine Christmas at the Carey household to be the “stuff of dreams.”

The TV host asked what to expect at the Carey household over the festive season. “I mean, can you see behind me,” she laughed, but ultimately forCarey, Christmas is a time of reflection and is “more than the decorations and superficial stuff.”

She explained how she spends a moment alone while everyone else is sleeping and thinks about “what has this year been for me. How do I feel about it? How blessed do I feel to be able to do this at Christmas – because I grew up with nothing.”

She assured viewers that her new song, Fall In Love At Christmas, featuring Khalid and Kirk Franklin, was not competing with her iconic, chart-topping single,All I Want For Christmas.

“I’m not trying to be like ‘Oh, I’m competing with All I Want,’ it’s not a competition, it’s just a different style of song.

“It’s a love song, and it’s a spiritual moment and I think for where we are in the world, it’s really, really right, timing-wise.”
