Newly elected Labour leader Jeremy Corbyn is under fire already for giving the most senior jobs in his new shadow cabinet to men.

While the shadow chancellor and shadow home and foreign secretaries positions are all held by men, for the first time in history women make up more than 50 per cent of the shadow cabinet.

Currently the UK matches the EU average, with a 28 per cent female parliament.
