Finding out your partner is cheating on you is a horrible revelation. Finding out that they've also been calling you fat behind your back is just rubbing salt in the wound.

That's exactly what happened to Betsy Ayala , who discovered her husband of 14 years had called her a “fat f**k” and a “cow” in Facebook messages to his mistress.

To make matters worse this took place after she’d just given birth, and had severe postpartum depression and anxiety.

Ayala, however, got the best revenge. She divorced her husband, and lost 100 pounds.

She told VT:

I honestly feel that what he did was a blessing because otherwise I would have been the way I was forever.

I had pretty much had weight issues my whole life. I was always the chubby kid, I never played sports or wanted to take in physical activity because I was overweight. I did get bullied in school and got picked on. I think for me eating was like self-medication.

I have anxiety and instead of dealing with the real source of my anxiety I would eat and then that would become the source of my anxiety and I would eat some more and it was just a vicious cycle.

After having her daughter, Ayala says she was at her heaviest. She lost 60 pounds in four months after finding out her husband was cheating on her with a co-worker.

And despite allegedly calling her fat behind her back, Ayala claims he was actually enabling her to stay overweight.

He would always tell me I looked fine or would try to get me to eat junk all the time which is why I was so devastated when I read those messages because it was almost like he enabled me or wanted me to stay that way.

Now Ayala says she’s happier, confident and positive.

She added to VT:

I'm so happy to set a good example for my daughter which is extremely important for me.
